Avalon Seedlings

For over 30 years I have spent my time working with preschool and elementary aged children. With a BA and MSEd in Special Education my work has primarily focused on getting children outside and in touch with their natural world in both formal and informal settings. Currently, my program at Avalon Nature Preserve in Stony Brook, New York is in it's 6th year and has experienced an over abundance of interest from parents and children who want to be outside. It is gratifying to know that this love for our natural world is still alive and with a bit of nurturing from "us" lovers of nature it can blossom in our younger generation. My Avalon Seedlings Nature Program is a perfect example of engaging a community and sharing the love of our local park. Come along on this journey with me!
